DECISION REGARDING HALL COUNTY PARKS & LEISURE SERVICES

Gainesville, Ga., Aug. 3, 2011– After thorough review and consideration, the Hall County Boys & Girls Club board of directors and executive staff has determined that a proposed partnership with the Hall County Parks & Leisure Services would be outside the scope of our organization’s mission.

Our Clubs’ mission focuses on youth development; working with young people ages 6-18 mainly from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances. In addition, our organization targets three primary areas of youth development: Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles.

The mission of Hall County Parks & Leisure Services’ mission is much broader, providing recreation services to all residents and age groups, including adults. Consequently, our organization’s leadership believes that partnering with Hall County to provide recreational services would require a realignment of our mission and focus on youth.

The Hall County Boys & Girls Clubs board believes it is in the best interest of the youth in our community that we remain focused in providing programs and activities to allow these boys and girls to excel in school, thrive as adults, and contribute to society.

The Club is honored to have been considered for Hall County’s Request for Proposal and expresses gratitude for the opportunity.
