Youth of the Year

The Youth of the Year program, which has been nationally sponsored by the Reader’s Digest Foundation for 58 years, recognizes outstanding contributions to a member’s family, school, community and Boys & Girls Club; academic excellence; as well as personal challenges and obstacles overcome.

2008 Youth of the Year

Ed Hollis is a true example of an extraordinary young man. At age 18 he has just been selected as the Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County. Hollis is among hundreds of local Youth of the Year winners across the country recognized by Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) for his sound character, leadership skills and willingness to give back to the community.

Ed is a senior at East Hall High and is active in his Club, his school and his community. Ed is a 12 year member of the Boys & Girls Clubs and he has participated in many programs and activities, including basketball, football, Keystone Club of which he was the past president, tutoring, mentoring and Junior Staff Career Development. He enjoys staying active in sports at his high school where he is the manager of the varsity basketball team and played football throughout school. Ed is also involved in his Church.

2007 Youth of the Year

Michael Holeman, age 18, was selected as the 2007 Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County. A five-year member of the local Clubs, Michael stands out among his peers because he is a leader who leads by example and demonstrates integrity, respect and self-discipline. He is a member of the Keystone Club, a teen leadership group that focuses on service through community projects and learning.
