Regions Brings Bikes and Smiles to the Boys & Girls Clubs
Tuesday January 22, 2008 - "Regions is committed to being an active presence in Gainesville and Hall County, and we are excited to be able to make this donation to benefit the girls and boys in our community," said Dan Carey, Gainesville city president at Regions. "Everyone can remember how muich they loved their first bike. There was feeling of simplicity, freedom and easiness - the same experience we are working to create in banking."
During a student assembly, which was recently held at the Teen Center, Carey presented 150 bikes which will be used by the Club as awards for children ages 11-18 as part of an incentive program for academic achievement. In fact, more than 60 bikes were awarded to students at the assembly in recognition of their outstanding first-semester grades. Some of the bikes will be retained by the Club to be used in the Triple Play program that encourages daily exercise and healthy habits.
We couldn't be more grateful to Regions Bank for making this fun and worthwhile donation," said Joe Ethier, Chief Professional Officer. "The bicycles fit perfectly into the programs here at the Clubs, many of which encourage the children to become more active and to make healthier choices for their leisure activities. Thanks to everyone involved, there are a lot of smiling faces here today at the Boys & Girls Clubs."
