When we were told to release the ducks, we brought the whole truck.

That’s the spirit behind the 28th Annual Rubber Duck Derby, and it’s exactly how we kick things off every year. As we gear up for race day, this photo captures the moment thousands of rubber ducks hit the water in one big splash — all in support of kids across Hall, Habersham, and Forsyth counties.

On Saturday, May 2, join us at Lake Lanier Olympic Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a free, family-friendly day of food trucks, inflatables, games, and entertainment. The ducks hit the water at 2:30 p.m. for the big race down the lake, with winners determined by the numbers on the ducks you adopt.

Here’s how it works: Adopt a duck (or a whole flock) online for $10 each, $50 for a Quack Pack of six, or $150 for a Grand Quacker Pack of 25. Your duck could win the $10,000 grand prize — or one of the other great prizes, including a family entertainment package, event rentals, a home repair kit, Chick-fil-A for a year, and more.

Every single duck adopted makes a direct difference. The funds stay right here and help provide thousands of local kids with a safe, positive place after school and during the summer — programs that keep them learning, active, and on track to succeed in school and in life.

Last year’s race brought in thousands of dollars that went straight into those programs. This year we’re aiming even higher with 20,000 ducks on the line.

Adoptions are open now and go fast. Grab yours today at duckrace.com/gainesville/adopt.

Come out on May 2, cheer on your ducks, and be part of something that’s been supporting our community for 28 years running. Every adoption helps a kid — plain and simple.
