The Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier is proud to offer 21st Century Community Learning Centers that expand the activities offered at several of our club sites. Federal funds allow us the opportunity to provide activities at certain club sites that further enhance our academic enrichment and tutoring services and offer programs and activities that complement our academic programs and enhance and enrich participation and learning. Program goals and objectives focus on improving student achievement in the areas of English/ language arts and mathematics through new, interesting, challenging, and exciting experiences.

Current funding allows us to offer 21st Century Community Learning Centers to approximately half of the youth we serve daily. Students from all Gainesville City Schools, Lyman Hall Elementary, and Tadmore Elementary are eligible to participate in the 21st Century Program.

In accordance with federal statute, Boys & Girls Club of Lanier is required to inform our community and our stakeholders regarding our intent to apply to the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Grant. We are applying for funding for the following Clubs: Walters Club, Fair Street Elementary School Site, Teen Center, Tadmore Elementary School Site, and Positive Place Club.

The 21st CCLC is a federal program intended to support the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state and local academic standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math, offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs, and offers literacy and other educational services to families of participating children.

Any Hall County District or Gainesville City District students or parents interested in completing the online survey should contact Rachael Burns at rburns@bgclanier.org.

21st Century Programs

21st Century programming aligns with our three key outcome areas: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Character & Citizenship. The 21st Century funding allows us to provide dedicated activities focused around each of our outcome areas and aimed at developing kids who leave the Clubs as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Family Engagement

21st Century Community Learning Centers also aim to involve the families of our members. By providing education to family members, our members’ success is nurtured even after they leave the Club.

21st CCLC Applications and Evaluations

The benefits the children in our community have experienced due to the 21st Century Community Learning Centers are astounding. The goal of 21st Century Community Learning Centers and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier for the next 5 years will be to meet state and local academic standards in core academic subjects such as reading and math, offer students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs, and offer literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.
