Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier Youth Ride into Summer with New Bikes from Teknor

GAINESVILLE, GA – JUNE 25, 2025 – On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the Joseph F. Walters Boys & Girls Club was gifted with 20 bikes and helmets for Club Kids from Teknor Apex through its Bikes for a Brighter Future initiative. “These are not just bicycles. These bikes allow our kids to create long-lasting memories,” said Chief Executive Officer, Steve Mickens. “They are going to help our kids to become adventurers, have fun, take chances and enjoy life.”

At the event, the Club honored the memory of former Club Kid Carlos Herrera Espinal, who tragically passed away earlier this year after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike home. His legacy served as a powerful reminder of the importance of safe and supportive spaces for youth. Bicycle safety involves taking precautions to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries while cycling. Key aspects include wearing a helmet, being visible to others, using hand signals, and obeying traffic laws. The community and the Club were very supportive of Carlos’s family and mother during this extremely difficult time. It is in times like these that we realize the power of community.

Teknor’s ‘Bike’ initiative, is held on the same day across Teknor locations around the world. Several Teknor employees attended the event to show their support and connect with the community. As part of the celebration, 20 brand-new bicycles were gifted to Club members, bringing smiles and excitement to the kids in attendance. To top it all off, guests, staff, and youth enjoyed a pizza party, capping off a meaningful day of remembrance, generosity, and joy.
